New stadium proposal statement
MUYSC’s Official Statement Regarding The New Stadium Proposal
The soul of Manchester United is under threat. We will not stand by in silence. We intend to stand with other groups who believe this is not the right decision. We were told it wouldn't be announced until the summer-it's been announced without proper consultation or a simple yes/no vote of match going regulars.
Jim Ratcliffe's grand vision for a futuristic 100,000-seater stadium is not for us. It is not for Manchester United. It is for profit, for tourists, for corporate elites who see our club as an untapped business opportunity rather than a historic institution built on passion, identity, and working-class pride.
This isn't about football. This is about turning Old Trafford into a soulless, commercialised venue for NFL games, Champions League finals, and Taylor Swift concerts. It's about inflating property prices so that lifelong local supporters are forced out of their own communities to make way for luxury apartments and an influx of tourists. It's about creating a sterile, manufactured spectacle-a Disneyland and Wembley of the North-that has no connection to the people or the history of Manchester United.
And let's not forget the biggest question: how does a club that was supposedly on the brink of financial ruin suddenly have the money for this?
The answer is simple-they don't. But they will find it, and they will find it in the pockets of the very fans who built this club. Ticket prices will soar, season tickets will become unaffordable for the match-going youth, and our famous Stretford End atmosphere will be drowned out by those who see a matchday as an "experience" rather than a way of life.
We, the youth, the future of Manchester United's support, say NO. We say no to a stadium designed for corporate greed. No to pricing out the next generation of Reds. No to inflated house prices. No to inflated food and drink prices. No to their lies. No to ripping the heart out of Manchester for the sake of commercial gain. And No to the destruction of everything that makes this club what it is.
Manchester United belongs to its people, not the highest bidder.
This is not a fight we can afford to lose. We will come together, we will organise, and we will do everything in our power to stop this disgraceful project from happening. And if, despite our resistance, they push ahead, we will make sure the world knows the truth-this is not for the future of Manchester United.
This is for the future of Gary Neville, Andy Burnham, Joel Glazer, Avram Glazer, Seb Coe, Jim Ratcliffe, and every other, greedy, corporate elite involved- who is stealing our club from right under our noses. They are selling out the match-going fan, the working-class communities, and the very identity of Manchester United in exchange for power, profit, and prestige.
